Strive is looking to find a tradesperson who is interested in moving into education and who would ultimately work to deliver a multi-trade construction course to our young people alongside our support staff and Pastoral support. Strive seeks applications from applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this exciting opportunity. Teaching experience isn’t essential and training will be provided in how to convert practical knowledge to teaching a group of young people.
The construction course is based at our Construction Centre in Pannal, Harrogate. This is a new opportunity for the right person and we can therefore be flexible with regards to whether this is a part-time or full-time role.
The successful applicant could have a large input into the course set-up, structure, delivery, and assessment methods. There is an opportunity for the successful applicant to ‘shape’ the course to suit their own experience, skills and strengths.
Experience in the following areas would be desirable:
Bricklaying, woodwork and joinery, plumbing, roofing, flooring, plastering, electrical work, painting and decorating.
We would not expect the applicant to be skilled and/or qualified in all of these trades. The right person will demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation, be a “hands on” person who can encourage young people to engage in this project and develop valuable skills to help them progress into employment in the construction sectors and/or into further training.
