2024/25: Strive has capacity for a maximum admission number of 36 students across all buildings.
Strive can admit students in Year 10 and above with a max age of 19yrs.
Admissions Process:
Consults for full-time, on-roll places: Parents need to contact their SEN case worker in order to explore having Strive named as specialist provision on their child’s EHCP. When receiving EHCP consults Strive follows a robust admissions process in order to establish whether a young person’s needs can be met.
Full admissions procedures can be explored further in our Admissions Policy. Strive will only accept consults if our offer is suitable for the age, ability, aptitude or special educational needs of a young person.
The attendance of the young person has to be compatible with the provision of efficient education for others with whom this young person would be educated.
Core Offer: It is a pre-requisite that students can fit into the Strive ‘Core Offer’ of a 6:2 student:staff ratio. This is the structure of the curriculum and support offered.
Consults received will be assessed by our admissions team who will determine whether Strive is potentially the correct place for a young person. If yes, then next steps may involve a more detailed look around and meeting followed by a trial day(s).
A placement will only be offered if we believe that needs can be successfully met. The placement must be right for the young person, family and Strive. Please see our admissions policy on this website for full details on admissions.
Initial enquires should be directed to the Asst Head, Han Donaghy (han@striveforeducation.co.uk) who will be best placed to deal with your enquiry. Strive host open afternoons every month for any prospective families to come and have an informal look around and chat with staff.
Placements at Strive are in high demand and starting the admissions process should be done at the earliest opportunity.
Open Events
Strive hosts open afternoons once a month for parents, families and young people who may want to come and have an informal look around and chat with staff. When at capacity, all parents will be directed to these events.
Individual 'Look Arounds'
Where Strive is considering a consult, parents, family and student will be invited in for an individual tour of Strive and to meet with key staff to include someone from the leadership team and SENCo
Review of a Placement
Strive will do everything possible to ensure a student’s educational, emotional, and social needs are met, however, where it is evident that Strive can’t meet these needs, a place will be reviewed and possibly removed.
A student will be placed on personalised cycles of Assess-Do-Review to help support needs.
Where a place needs reviewing, an interim EHCP review meeting will take place and a different specialist provision may need naming on the plan.
